MIT Graduation

Steve's picture

I was reminded after seeing KT's skiing post that I should recognize that 5 months ago KT officially survived MIT.  As I was told more than once while visiting, it is harder to get into Harvard, but harder to get out of MIT.

Here are the steps where 4 years ago KT had her photo taken with her freshmen class.

These are KT's course 10b classmates (chemical-biological engineering)

Mother and I hanging out in the shade waiting for graduation.  I don't have any pictures of the actual graduation worth posting.  The photo I tried to take of KT receiving her diploma was ruined when someone stood up in front of me. Oh well - we have a better photo taken by a professional.
Here is the view of the stage from where we were sitting.

Here is KT and proud parents after graduation.  Approximately 2000 students (maybe more) received their diplomas, about 1,000 were undergraduates.  KT's Breck classmate Brandon Lew also graduated and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army.  Very exciting day.

Okoboji Party?

Did we have an Okoboji graduation party with food and drink provided by the proud parents??

You know, Bill . . .

I don't think we did!   I'll have two graduates this year - Andrew (with his second degree) and Megan!     Guess it'll be my turn to throw the party. But, of course, we'll have to wait until the graduates can be there to celebrate the event with us! And, since Megan hasn't even graduated yet and I plan on flying her back to Scotland and England sometime this summer, maybe the party will never happen - oh well good thought anyway!

It doesn't seemt that long ago when I was being dropped off at Norris Hall for my Freshman year at Grinnell and here it is - more than 40 years later! College is a special time and thank you Steve for reminding us once again how fleeting life is.

Oh and . . . again - congratulations K.T. for surviving M.I.T.!

Hot Dogs, Grad Party

I know that Forbes sells some very expensive hot dogs - if we can manage to get KT, Megan and Andrew at the lake at the same time I will be more than happy host the party - I may even let the graduates have more than one hot dog - maybe some potato chips

Will you be serving spring salad?!

Andrew

I think Andrew only eats those porter house steaks that are so large you need to turn them sideways to get them out of the store.  Blake is graduating and will need one too.  So will David and I!!

Ready to Party

Bob,
If we can get Andrew to Okoboji next summer, it will be party time!!!
We should give a triple bonus party if we have Megan and Andrew there at the same time.

Grad Party

We will have several grads to be proud of:  Blake, Andrew, Megan, and of course Katie who hasn't had an Okoboji grad party yet.  I love an Okoboji Party . . . good friends and family, good food and drinks, and the best party site in the world!
