Baby Boy and Big Momma

I guess it's Katie and I reviving the Okoboji Creaseys blog.  I know there are a few graduations coming up and I'd love to see some entries about those.  Also Lori went to Haiti and Kay is retiring.  There is lots to report.
In case you forgot I'll be giving birth in little over a month. Wahoo!  That was a sarcastic wahoo!  After watching birth videos on youtube I'm a little freaked.  Baby Boy is growing quickly and is measuring a little over 5lbs.  I'm nearly 35 weeks; hopefully I have a maxium of five more weeks.  Everything has been going smoothly, but lately my ribs and back have been in pain.  His rear-end is pushing against my right side ribs and it isn't feelin' good.  I've got two more weeks of teaching and then I'm FREE!  Maternity leave in Turkey is pretty awesome.  They don't let you work past 37 weeks and you get a total of 16 weeks.

Kiteboarding

The summer has begun! Let the Creasey Community site come back to life!
Two of my friends and I have recently begun kiteboarding lessons. Kiteboarding is basically wakeboarding, but instead of a boat, you have a really big kite. There are some great youtube videos, if you want to see a video. Here is a picture I found online:

The lessons we are taking are broken into three days: Kite Skills, Water 1, and Water 2. In the first lesson, Kite Skills, we learn to fly a 2.5m kite, which is about 1/5th of the size of a real kite. We learn how to control the kite and how to get varying amounts of power from it depending on how we move it. We each bought a "trainer kite" as they are called and we practice with them on land. Here is an extremely photoshopped picture of my friends flying their little kites:

A picture for Steve and Oz

I saw this photo on pinterest today and saved it to my desktop for Oz.  I'm sure Steve feels the same way when someone offers him diet pepsi.
A quick update on the baby.  He weighs 2 pounds now and is moving around a lot more.  After forcing Oz to go furniture shopping twice we've finally ordered things for the baby's room.  The furniture arrives in a month and this is when Enzo and Lola will learn their room has become a nursery.  This will cause a bit of confusion and stress; Enzo will pee inside at least once in protest.  I'm sure they will quickly learn to enjoy other areas of the house.

Steamboat with the Artes Family 2012

Lori, my friend Alex, and I went to Steamboat Springs, CO, last week to visit Fred, Ruth, Skyler, Leif, Emmet, and the two goldens, Polo and Boji. The snow wasn't the best, but it was much better than what Alex and I usually ski on. Alex lives in Chicago now and is one of my friends from MIT. I lived with her for a year and she and I were both ChemE. She should not be confused with my other friend Alex who is also ChemE and came to Okoboji last labor day. Below is a picture of Lori, me, Alex, and Ruth.

Our first day of skiing, Fred took us on a little adventure. Surprise, surprise.

He told Lori there was "going to be this place you don't like... but they we are going to get to a beautiful meadow". Along the way, Lori kept asking: "Is this the part I'm not going to like?" And Fred would respond: "No, Lori, were not there yet!" Eventually we did get there. It is pictured below. It was rather steep and mogully.

The Creasey LLC's Management Team (hereafter referred to as CLMT!) successfully concluded its meeting in Kingsley, Iowa.

Thank you to Bill and Steve for making the effort to come to Kingsley to get this much needed business conducted. The team traveled to the Le Mars Plymough County Courthouse to change the ownership of the Boat and Canoe to the Creasey Management Company, LLC, visited with our insurance agent, Jim Harvey, toured the farms, discussed business, ate Pork Vouvray, and went to the Plymouth County FSA office to take care of signing up the farms for the farm program, and meeting with the tax guy on Tuesday morning.

We boarded up the back of the office building in Kingsley as it was discovered that the floor near the back door was rotting and there was a pervasive mold spell which was so bad tthat Bill was forced to stay out. No decision was made on the building's future.

All in all the meeting was successful and the secretary extends his thanks to all participants for their fine work and special thanks and kudos and deep bows to our Manager, Steve.

Suntime-Funtimes in Arizona

It's been ages since I've done any blogging--currently I'm in Des Moines doing a teaching practicum (a three-week deal in a high school classroom where I get to teach some lessons, but mostly I observe my cooperating teacher.  So nothing too crazy.

I wanted to share about my time in Arizona where I got to see BOTH of my brothers at the same time, as well Malee!  So here are some pictures!

Ross Christensen

Ross Christiansen, our Okoboji friend and neighbor, passed away on Sunday.  A nice statement of his philanthropic accomplishments can be found in the WCFCourier.

Our symphonies to Pat and the rest of the Christensen family.

Happy Birthday Bob

 Happy Birthday Bob!!!!!!!!

11-11-11 has a special significance.  Do the subtraction.  Bob was born on 11-11-1951.

Sorry for the damage to the photograph but here is Bob at his third birthday.  He is one the left.  I'm in the center and our very good friend Jan Paul Metcalf is on the right.

Someday I will restore this photo to remove the scratchs and give us all a smile.

Here is one of my Okoboji favorites-- Bob floating in G-2.  I'm trying to figure out whose dock is behind Bob.  I know the far dock with the big speedboat is Foster's.

Bob, have a great day.  Get out there and take some photos!!!
